Common Injuries to Kids in Car Accidents

Head Trauma: Department of Transportation revealed in 2010 that head injuries were the most common injuries sustained by children in car accidents. These injuries include skull base fractures, concussions, whiplash, contusions, and brain injuries.

Airbag injuries: when an accident occurs, it is more likely that the airbag deployed as a result of the impact will hurt a kid sitting in a front seat than protect him. Parents are advised to put their infants and toddlers in the back seats of a car to avoid being injured by an airbag and ensure proper use of child car seats and restraints.

Broken glass injuries: A child involved in a car accident can be injured by glass particles flying around in the vehicle or by colliding with the windows or other glass material in the car. A child is likely to suffer a disfiguring injury from broken glass.

Chest injuries: children can suffer thoracic injuries like lung injuries, rib injuries, and internal bleeding as a result of tight restraint or collision with the front seats.

Psychological trauma: Due to the emotional and physical effects of car accidents, after an auto crash, your child may experience mental health issues including depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder.
