Dangerous road condition claims and car accident lawsuits

Many people have been killed in the incidence of a vehicle skidding off the road and crashing. In 2003 alone, over 25,000 of the 42,643 people that were killed in car accidents died when their motor vehicles left their lane and crashed.  Most times these accidents involve vehicles crossing the road shoulder before dropping down a cliff or colliding with stationary objects such as trees, poles, or fire hydrants. These accidents are often ruled to be caused by negligent driving.

One thing usually overlooked by some lawyers is that these accidents can be caused by some defect in road design or its maintenance also known as a “dangerous road.” Dangerous road cases can be and expensive. The government agencies in charge of these roads have strong defenses put in place. Therefore, proving that a run-off-road accident is caused by a dangerous road can be a challenge. One might need the help of an experienced car accident attorney to investigate the accident site and its history.

If successful, it will not only benefit the client: the case will force changes to be made – changes that might not otherwise occur at all.
